Hallways are the first impression of your home. Make them special and it will set the tone for the house.

Add a table lamp to a console table to give soft, ambient light to the hall. This will reduce the glare, and provide a focal point when combined with a mirror or piece of art.

Use uplights to highlight architectural features within the space. Placing them at the base of door frames and by large windows, along with the inversion of light, helps grab the attention.

Add some low level lights to provide nighttime light. These can be connected to a sensor, removing the need for turning the lights on and off every time you walk through the hall.
